Viper Country

Here you will be able to view the four seasons in and around the Weaverville area of Trinity County, California. Plus some of various shots of anything and everything, as I'm a camera 'nut', eh!! ;-))

Name:
Location: Weaverville, California, United States

Since my 'forced' retirement on June 23rd, 2005, I'm trying to build an 'at home' business via the Internet and learning more about using my digital camera, eh!! The picture is of ME & Kathy, my wife who's one bad ass Quilter!! We will be adding some of her handiwork too. I'd love to hear from computer & graphics people so I can learn more and we'd both love to hear from Quilters too!!

BB and the Bear!! XXX?? ;-))

Ok Folks, I've got some 'sexy' photos coming up, so prepared yourself, eh!! ;-0 Kathy and I take pictures all the time of our 2 cats, 'BB' a 6 year?? old male and 'Lucy' an 8 month?? old female. Luckily you do not have to view the hundreds of shots that we have, but we do like sharing some of them with you.

But tonight, 'BB' was sleeping on the sofa as normal when something got his attention and he rolled over on his back so he could look over at me and/or Kathy. He then started to stretching and yawning, so I had my camera setting right there on my end table and took these shots. It wasn't until later when I was editing them that I noticed that it looks like one of our Bears has his right hand by BB's butt and his left hand down by his crotch and is smiling too!! Hey, I'm not suggesting anything, just stating the facts!!

Now we do hear various animal noises in the middle of the night all the time, but these pictures were taken at about 7 PM and with us setting right there in the same living room watching one of our 'Soaps'!! Something for you all to think about if you have animals in your house, eh!! . . . Later, 'Viper'

Ice Crystals 'Cave'?? ;-))

It finally quit snowing sometime last night, after giving us over 9 inches of that white shit, er ... stuff. Even tho it was not snowing today, we still lost our satellite reception so I went out to our 'old' antenna that is in our yard and is cleanable. No snow on it!! But since both our antenna are 'shooting' thru the tops of our tall pine trees, I just figured that the snow was melting and falling and we'd soon have reception. NOT!! So after a couple of hours I noticed that the new antenna that's on top of our garage looked clear of snow, I switched our cables back over to it. Got our reception again.

Anyway, I took some 'macro' shots of the snow on our deck railing, like UP CLOSE, eh!! Had the lens cover about an inch away and got some really great shots to me. I also took a few long shots to show how most all of the snow has fallen off our trees. The first shot and the next 2 shots were taken out of our back door last night and all the rest were taken from our deck in front this morning. With #5980, it is the full 2816 pixels width of my camera, as I wanted to show you what I think is a very interesting shot of snow, eh!! Yes, I took some liberties in use of my graphics program to give it more color, contrast, hue and saturation, eh!! That's an artist's right, right!! ;-))

Fresh Snow ... now at our elevation, eh!!

Monday, November 28th, 2005 ~ Well folks, my other snow pics this month were all at about 5,000 foot level. Then this morning Kathy and I got up with that white stuff all around us. On our deck, covering our Tall Pine, Oak and Madrone trees. Trying to hide our car and truck too. If you'd like to see the rest of my snow pictures from today, just click here. I also have 3 'bonus' shots for you too. One shows our 'BB' cat wondering if he should go out into the snow or not, one shows just the footprints of a very fast 'Lucy' cat and one of Kathy's 'blinking' Christmas Candles Ornament. Within these pictures you will see my measure stick showing how we've been getting today. No telling what we'll find in the morning, eh!! ;-)) Hopefully, tomorrow I'll be able to get some really good 'macro' shots of the snow crystals in the sunshine. Or am I wishfull thinking?? Later, 'Viper'

Customized Mercury, like HOT!!

Ok, this one of for all of US Hot Rodding Custom Cars junkies, eh!! ;-)) This was in my Strange Cosmos Ezine today and I just had to share it with all of my friends and ebuddies that love custom cars too!! The picture you see is just one that I 'cut' out of a long collage of 7 different shots of the exterior, interior and engine bay. I hope you all enjoy this custom as much as I do, but then I know that some people would rather have a brand new car, be it a Lexus, Cadillac, BMW, Ford Harley Truck or the likes. Well, me too!! But if both were priced the same, I'd take the 'custom', sorry!! Later, 'Butch' ;-))

3rd Snow of this Season!!

Yes, we got up this morning and noticed that we have more fresh snow at about the 5,000 ft level. While at our level of about 2,800 ft and getting a lot of rain since Friday, it was snowing up higher and we couldn't see it, right!! Then this morning when going into town for breakfast and shopping, as we turned the first corner after backing out of our driveway, there was this beautiful sight of light snow on our closest mountain top, Weaver Bally. Since we were heading to the post office first thing, I just waited till then to take the first shot. I was afraid it would be mostly gone by the time we headed home and I was right. You could just barelly see any snow about 3 hours later. So hope you enjoy these scenes too. If you want to see the rest of these shots, just click here to go to my web site, eh!! Enjoy, 'Butch' ;-))

Toy Run Custom 'Bikes' & Mine!!

Well Folks, what you've all been waiting for, right. You wanted to get a look at my bike and me, eh!! That's my 2001 Honda Shadow Spirit 750 and me in my 'split-tail' long leather coat!! If you'd like to see a few more of me and my bike, plus some of my friend and ex-coworker Tina West, that is Head Cook at GAC (Senior Center) here in Weaverville, just click here to go to my web pages. As to the Red/Pearl bike picture, I just happen to love this style of custom 'chopper' and the coloring too, so this addition is for all of you 'bikers' out there. My friends Barbara & Stacy in Texas are members of their local HOG Chapter. On Sunday, November 20th, 2005 they had a Toy Run to help out Santa Claus and took about 156 pictures. Since I'm one of their biker friends too and a digital camera nut, Barb sent me a lot of these shots, eh!! So I made up 4 collage pages of my own 'crops' from Barbs pictures. If you'd like to see more, just click here to go my 'spider web, fall colors, toy run collage site', eh!! As a little bonus there is a picture of a spider web hanging off the car antenna over to the rear window. It's really faint and hard to see, but if you look in the area of the 'V' in our Madrone tree, you can barely see it. Also, there are some of our last fall colors looking up our Main Street of Weaverville. Till next time, 'Biker' Butch ;-))

Early Morning Sun & Wet Leaves

Good Morning!! While I was waiting for the coffee to brew this morning, I notice that the sun was shining brightly on the hill that is directly behind our house and facing our kitchen window. So I got my camera and stepped out the back door and took these 4 shots. Hope you enjoy them and just maybe one or all will 'brighten' your day too!! Later, 'Viper'

I don't know about you, but I love Fall Colors!! On Saturday the 12th we went to Cottonwood, CA for a family gathering and to see our daughter Sherri's new home in Redding, CA. So I was able to get some good shots on this trip, eh!! To see more pictures of bright Fall Colors, some shots at dusk and after dark of the moon and dark clouds, plus some shots of our 2 cats, 'BB' and 'Lucy', just go to my web page and Enjoy!!

Snow, Town & Old Barn

Just wanted to share a couple pictures with you here and if you want to see more just go to my web site. We've been getting a lot of rain since last Friday, the 4th, then you got to see a couple pictures on Saturday, the 5th, of the bit of snow showing under all the fog and clouds. Well, all the cloud cover has kept our view blocked till yesterday and while I was in town it was nice, sunny and clear. So I got a lot of pics to bring home and play with. Hope you have a good look and enjoy, eh!!

Kathy's Latest Quilt

Well Folks,
Here's my dear wife's latest 'Redwork' Quilt Creation. She just finished it tonight and now she can start another one, eh!! ;-)) 'Quilty' made this as a 'Hostess Gift' for her sister Barbara Main, as she is hosting our annual family Christmas gathering this year. Until a few years ago Kathy's family & spouses gave 'hand made' items, but after a few years we ran out of ideas on what to make each other. So we've taken a few years off and now just get together for a nice dinner and getting caught up with each others lives in the past year, right!!

2nd Snow of the Season

Guess what?? When we went out for breakfast at our local Marino's Restaurant this morning, it had been raining and was very cloudy. As usual when we park the car I look around to see if I have any good shots of the mountains, clouds, sky, etc. When I looked up to our Trinity Mountains, the clouds had lifted enough to show off some of the snow that fell Friday night. So here is a 'wide angle' and a 'telephoto' shot. Winter's a coming, eh!! ;-))

Friday, November 04, 2005

The first picture (top left) is of our 'Main Street' as we were heading to a doctor appointment in Redding, CA about 47 miles to the East of us. The other pictures were taken along the road as the fog was lifting and sunrise was coming. I tried some different 'framing' than I usually use, just to see all the stuff that is available in my graphics software, eh!! Posted by Picasa

Flower Pictures

Here are some shots of various flowers that we had this year and a 'Cockscomb' that was taken on our 'Main Street'. Some beautiful colors, eh!!

Fall Colors

I'm still testing and trying to figure out how to show 2 or more pictures at the same time. So just hang in there while I get all this blogging down, eh!! ;-))

Ok, here's the last one for tonight, maybe I should this morning, eh!! ;-)) Posted by Picasa

This is our 'Main Street' or Hwy #299 East.  Posted by Picasa

Saved the best for last. What a beautiful color and form too!! Posted by Picasa

Check out this pic with my 'macro' setting, eh!! Posted by Picasa

This is the second one. I can't figure out how to put more than one picture up at a time. Posted by Picasa

These two are 'natural', as they needed no touch up. Posted by Picasa

This flower had a lot of black/dark spots all over it and I felt so badly that I 'erased' most of those showing. Sorry!! But I just had to!! Posted by Picasa

Sunrise on a Stormy Day!!

Please Note: This 'Blogging' is totally new so please bear with me as I start adding my words and pictures, eh!! I love taking pictures of the area where I live and will be trying out this 'Blog' thing that's so hot today. I'm using a Fuji FinePix S5000 3.1MP Digital Camera with a 10x Optical Zoom. If you also use a digital camera, I'd like to trade thought with you, eh!! More to come later and this right now is me 'testing' everything. Later, 'Viper'
