Viper Country

Here you will be able to view the four seasons in and around the Weaverville area of Trinity County, California. Plus some of various shots of anything and everything, as I'm a camera 'nut', eh!! ;-))

My Photo
Name:
Location: Weaverville, California, United States

Since my 'forced' retirement on June 23rd, 2005, I'm trying to build an 'at home' business via the Internet and learning more about using my digital camera, eh!! The picture is of ME & Kathy, my wife who's one bad ass Quilter!! We will be adding some of her handiwork too. I'd love to hear from computer & graphics people so I can learn more and we'd both love to hear from Quilters too!!

Quilts, Snow, Bikers, Olsonware Tea pot, Mallards, Mill Pond

Hi Everyone,

While we were in town today doing our weekly shopping, we were able to see the Trinity Alps because we had no fog or rain clouds, so I took more pics. One of my shooting stops is at our local mill and there were some Mallards taking a break, so I got some good shots of them AND the snowy mountain peaks, eh!!

Also, we had a new 'quilt' shop open here in Weaver, so we had to stop and check it out too. While Kathy was walking around the shop and drooling, I was taking pictures of all the 'new' stuff in this really old building that's part of the history of Weaverville. Some of my pictures will show you a bit of the old brick walls and wood rafters too.

When we left there, Kathy's been wanting a tea pot instead of just heating the water for her tea in the cup each time. Since The Olson's have such great hand-made pottery, I talked her into spending more money than we would have normally, and she picked out a really pretty dark blue tea pot. While I was shooting the tea pot, Ricky was laying there watching every move I made, but when I pointed the camera at him for a couple of shots, he looked at me in disgust and would turn his head away for me. So I would get the camera ready and make a growl or such and try to catch him when he would look back towards me, eh!! ;-))

A bunch of bikers came thru town and my camera was off, so I did the old 'draw & shoot' and caught 2 of them and got a fairly clear picture too. ;-)) Also, I'm giving you all a choice again this time. You can watch a 'movie', click on 'slides' or go to the link to view all the pics individually on my web site. Enjoy!!

Fresh Snow, Clouds and Sunset!!

Hi Everyone,
I took some pictures today of the fresh snow in our Trinity Alps from all the rain we've been getting. Plus a got a really good sunset too. I'm still testing the new JAlbum stuff and I've added a slide show to this test. Plus I've uploaded my 'edited' pictures to a separate folder so those that would rather just see my pictures that way, may use my 'blog03' link, eh!! So go check out what you want to and when you want to and IF you feel like giving me some feedback on my latest JAlbum creation, I'd appreciate it too. Just remember to use that right mouse button, because you can make the pictures go to 'FULL' screen and back. Also, you can just click on each picture or use the thumbnails at the top to advance as in the last test OR click on the 'play slide show' to the left of the main picture in the center to start/stop the slide show that I added this time, ok!!

Ice, Clouds, Sun Rise, Sun Sets, African Quilts, Kathy's Baby Quilt, Lucy Cat, Whiskeytown Lake, Turtle Bay, Turtles, Wood Turner, Deer, & Ravens, eh!

Hi Everyone,

Tonight I'm trying something NEW!! After asking all of my ebuddies to check out a couple different 'slide show' TESTS, while playing around with 'JAlbum' a FREE graphics program and getting some feedback, I found one of their formats that seems good to me and hopefully will seem good to my ebuddies too. Since I'm using all of my pictures from February to date, some of you may have seen some before and in my 'TEST' sends, so feel free to pick/choose, ok!! Since I've kind of settled on using this format for awhile, you don't have to send me any feedback unless you just want to, eh!!

Ok, to use this format ... right click on the main picture and select 'Go Full Screen' OR left click on the main picture to go forward 1 picture at a time by repeated clicking on the pictures. You may also use the small 'icons' at the top of the screen to click one picture at a time or to pick/choose various pictures. If you move the cursor to the right, the pictures at top will move to the left so you can see all 90 pictures and decide which one to view by clicking on that picture, ok. Same with moving the cursor to the left if you want to go back to the beginning.

Should you want a bigger picture like the original for printing or a copy of my 770 pixels wide pictures that I normally put on my web site, just look at the top left of each picture to see my file names. Then send me that info and if you'd rather have a small 770 pixels wide or the original 2816 pixels wide shot. Otherwise just enjoy the pics, eh!! Later, 'Viper'

Lucy Cat, African Quilts, Kathy's Quilt for Kalee, Redding Turtle Bay, Sundial Bridge, Clouds, Clouds & Clouds!!

Hi Everyone,
I've just updated my
Blog with a variety of pictures. First off, Kathy had made a quilt for our grand-daughter Kalee's baby shower on Saturday the 3rd. Well, we didn't get the quilt back from Martha 'Ma' Bell, till Wednesday afternoon the 31st. So Kathy was sweating it getting the binding on and hand stitched in time, but she did it!! And it was the hit of the baby shower too!! ;-))
While all the girls were at the baby shower, Lourie's (Kalee's mom) boyfriend Jay and I went to an African Quilt Show at the Old Redding Town Hall and then over to Redding's Turtle Bay where the famous Sundial Bridge is and took a few pictures of the Sacramento River area to kill some time. Since I took a lot of cloud pictures going, while in Redding and then on the drive home about sunset, I just uploaded all of them because it was way to hard just to pick a few, eh!! ;-))
Hope you enjoy, 'Viper'

Burnt Trees, Clouds, Sunshine, Snow, News

Hi Everyone,
I've been so busy updating other peoples web pages that I haven't had the time to do my own, eh!! Well, I figured that it's the first of the month so I'd better get with it. Again, I'm using the 'new format' and sending this to everyone, instead of just my ebuddies. So just pick out what seems of interest to you by the names and enjoy!! I'll add a few words about some of the files below. The 'BurntTrees' pics are things that interest me and they seem to change on a daily basis, depending on the light angles and such. The 'EveningSun-pano' I got as I was heading home from the Tops shopping area about 5 pm. The clouds, sun, snow shots, are just shots showing how little snow we have gotten so far this winter. On the local news tonight, they said that we are 57% below the average per year, eh!! We need a lot more snow, because we really need the water!! The 'Eagle' shots are of 'Leaning Tree' Poster that I had scanned and the stationary was something that I purchased for myself to use. The newspaper articles are for those 'special' people that I would be normally sending in individual emails, but now everyone can read them too. Be sure the read about our freezing weather and about the guy 'walking on water', eh!! ;-)) Hope you all enjoy.
